Early Amniocentesis for Prenatal Diagnosis

Abstract

|
Genetic Amniocentesis was performed at 13~14 weeks of gestation using in situ technique which was established by our laboratory. No problems were encountered. Culture failure was never observed although the extracted AF volume was 10~15ml and the
banding quality of chromosome was good. Also the average cultrue duration of harvest was 9.2days that had no connection with AF volume. In addition, we could observe 10~12 fields of metaphase per one coverglass for chromosome analysis. It is
concluded
that early amniocentesis is a clinically reliable procedure which permits prenatal diagnosis of genetic evaluation in early pregnancy.
